If you or someone you know needs the support of The Door of Hope, this page explains how our referral and application process works.
The Door of Hope accepts referrals from a wide range of sources. Whether you are a woman seeking help yourself, a case worker, a family member, a prison chaplain, or a social service agency — we encourage you to reach out. Our process is designed to be compassionate, clear, and accessible.
Our process is straightforward and designed to move quickly. Here's what to expect from first contact to move-in.
Call us at 585-434-2449 or email Director@thedoorofhope.us to begin the process. Tell us briefly about the woman's situation and current needs.
We will provide a referral form to be completed by the referring party or the woman herself. This form collects basic information to help us assess fit and availability.
We schedule a phone or in-person interview to get to know the applicant, discuss expectations, and answer any questions she may have about the program.
Our team reviews the completed application and any supporting documentation. We assess program fit and current capacity with care and fairness.
If accepted, we communicate a start date and provide the woman with everything she needs to know about move-in, what to bring, and what to expect.
She arrives and begins her journey. Our team greets her warmly, completes intake paperwork, and immediately begins building her personalized care plan.
Our program is designed for women who are ready and willing to commit to the process of restoration. The following expectations help ensure a safe, structured environment for all residents.
Our program is Christian-based. Residents are expected to participate in faith activities and be open to spiritual growth and the Word of God.
Residents must be willing to commit to the full program length of 9 to 12 months to maximize the impact of the restoration process.
The Door of Hope maintains a substance-free environment. All residents must agree to maintain sobriety throughout their stay.
Residents are expected to actively engage in case management meetings, counseling sessions, educational programs, and life skills classes.
A respectful, peaceful home environment is essential. All residents must treat staff, fellow residents, and the home with dignity and care.
Residents participate in household responsibilities as part of building life skills and a sense of community ownership.
"Our goal is to bring healing to broken lives and restore hope to those who are in need. If you are willing to walk through the door, we are ready to walk with you."
